Nikolai Belikov.

Approach

Form comes first.

The work begins with the whole silhouette. A hat has to make sense as shape and proportion before trim or decorative detail is allowed to become visible.

Form

The silhouette should be readable before finishing is added. Shape is the foundation, not the decoration around it.

Proportion

Crown, brim and wearing line are considered together with the person, not as isolated measurements.

Material

Material affects what can realistically be shaped, repeated and maintained. Claims follow the real material and process.

Character

The aim is a recognisable personal image — expressive when needed, restrained when the wearer calls for restraint.

Workshop

The process should be shown, not romanticised.

The workshop is not decoration around the brand. Hands, tools, material, shaping and unfinished states are the evidence of how the object is actually made. Those moments should be shown with original photography, not stock imagery.

Choose a model — or start from an idea.

Explore the catalogue if you already recognise your direction. Use Custom if the right silhouette needs to be developed around your own reference, fit and proportions.
